COUNCIL BULL ROAST

Our Roost helped to support this Council function by having two tables at their Annual Bull Roast held on February 27, 2010.  Several of our members enjoyed the sounds of classic rock by Kaos and bidding on the many great items of memorabilia being auctioned off that evening.  That’s what we call team work.

7TH ANNUAL BULL ROAST

On Saturday, March 6th, about 340 members, family and friends gathered at Rosedale Gardens to enjoy an evening of great food, music and fellowship.  No Pets for Noah rocked the house again with their awesome collection of some new rock n roll tunes as well as those classics we all love so much.  We raised $6,699.21 which definitely goes a long way in supporting our many charities especially the scholarships to Chesapeake High School.   Great prizes were won including some valuable Ravens’ memorabilia.

Congratulations to Mark Yost who was voted our MVP for all of his hard work and dedication to the roost during 2009.  A plaque was presented to Mark by president, Lenny Banack, Jr.

BOWLING AT COUNTRY LANES – 3/20/10

On a chilly Saturday evening in March, several members gathered at the Country Lanes for some serious bowling competition.  No, just kidding!!!!  It was a very friendly rivalry and not one person got hurt.  Buckets of beer, along with pizza and wings topped off the night.

PUB CRAWL

Well, our fellow roost member Bridgette did it again!  She planned a great night of fun on the town.  On Saturday, April 24th, in a bus filled to the brim with thrill seeking members, we headed from Lenny’s to enjoy an evening of pub hopping.   Our first stop at Eastern Yacht Club was new to us and they treated us like royalty.  From there we visited Carson’s Creekside, Boomer’s, and ended the evening at Long Beach, the home of Ravens Roost #71.   There was great music and dancing all night long.

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP TO CHS

On Thursday, May 27, 2010, it was an honor to present awards to two very deserving seniors at Chesapeake High School.  Our Scholarship Chairperson Lenny Banack, Jr. provided a $2,500.00 scholarship each to Lauren Lotz and Volmy Lizardo.  These scholarships will assist them in furthering their education at a college of their choice.  Volmy informed us he will be attending the U of MD in the fall pursuing a degree in engineering.

HORSESHOE TOURNAMENT

Wow, about 30 members braved the high temperatures and humidity on Saturday, June 12, 2010 to come out to Lenny’s and enjoyed some friendly competition playing horseshoes, ladderball, ring toss and other games that required much skill JWe were joined by several roost members from RR #82.  Lunch specials and happy hour prices added to the enjoyment.  What a great way to spend a summer afternoon.

42ND ANNUAL CONVENTION IN OC, MD

Our roost had about 60 members, family and friends traveling to the beach for the Council of Ravens Roost Convention held this year from Thursday 6/3 through Sunday 6/6/2010.   Our trophy haul may not have been as fruitful as in years past, but that did not stop us from having an awesome four days.  We did bring home a 2nd Place trophy for mixed tug of war and one of our newest members knocked it out of the park with her rendition of “I’m Here for the Party” by Gretchen Wilson.  We are so proud of Crystal Topa who took 1st Place in the Karaoke competition.  Kudos go out also to Mark Yost, who again braved the dunk tank, and raised $228.00 during his 15 celebrity minutes.   Check out our web site for lots of pictures of members enjoying the sunshine and getting autographs from the many Ravens’ players there.

FIDO’S FOR FREEDOM GALA

Our Roost donated $100.00 to the Fido’s for Freedom, Inc. on behalf of Hazelnut, the remarkable canine companion of member Debbie Kale.  This organization does great things in the community with specially trained dogs that provide a much welcome service by visiting often forgotten individuals at local healthcare facilities.  On April 10th, at their annual Gala event, Hazelnut received her cape, which means she has completed all of her initial training.

Fanwatch…….Debbie  Kinnear

Debbie Kinnear joined RR73 with her husband Kevin and her daughter
Courtney in 2009.  Most recently her son Ryan also joined.
She joined the Roost since several of her good friends were active members.
Other reasons for joining include a love for Laidback Lenny's and
the fact that she really enjoys doing things with groups of people that
have the same interests as her.

Debbie works for the Born to Ride magazine which is owned and run by
members of her family. Before going to work for the magazine, Debbie was in
the medical field and worked at GBMC for 14 years.  Outside of football and
the Raven's, her interests include boating and motorcycles.  Debbie lives
in Bauernschmidt Manor.

Recently Debbie has been busy helping to plan a bingo to raise money for a
family they know that lost their belongings in a house fire.  Debbie
brought this cause to the attention of the Roost which led to a donation
to the Slattery family.  Debbie has also been very busy helping to plan the
wedding of her daughter who will get married on 10/22.

Debbie's favorite Raven is Flacco - although she says its hard to pick, she
loves them all.

Next time you see Debbie at Lenny's - could be at a meeting or Thursday
night Crab Night (she's a regular) - make sure you say hi.
